I would like to be the first to welcome me to my own blog. I thought it would be very appropriate to do so, and I am grateful I did.
I will say that I very much so enjoy discussions, as long as they are done with the correct intentions. This article is not being created to bash beliefs, customs, or ideas; rather, it was created to buff the rougher edges of what I call 'reality.'
I hope that those who read and post replies understand that I view a good discussion in the same light as a game of chess. There are many pieces, moves, and choices associated with the game -- openings, gambits, sacrifices, defenses, assaults, etc. -- that make the game very enjoyable for both parties.
What I don't agree with are the people who sit in parks charging fees to play a game that was initially created for purposes of honor for the victor and wisdom for the fallen. Charging fees to gain honor isn't honorable, and paying money to prove wisdom isn't wise. Thus comes the destruction of the purpose of the game; and, in consequence, the game itself.
Speech is very similar in that it was created to gain a better understanding of another. If we destroy that purpose by tearing down the very fabric of understanding with ignorance and hostility, there is no reason to speak at all. I hope this clears up my views on arguments versus discussions. I would no sooner charge someone to hear what I have to say than to put a price on honor, wisdom, and understanding. I hope you will see accordingly.
I hope to post frequently on matters that trouble me and the solutions I have discovered while slowly moving the pieces around in my head. Please be patient with me as I have the most common characteristic among mankind -- mistakes.
Keep Smiling,
-A Divided Mind
